When I don’t have the right words to express how I feel about events in our world, I turn to the soundtrack of my youth for inspiration. That soundtrack may have played a long time ago, but it still has a lot to offer: Marvin Gaye’s What’s Going On. John Lennon & Plastic Ono Band’s Give Peace a Chance. Pink Floyd’s Brick in the Wall.
Now that soundtrack has caught up to the present. The artists I listened to (at least those who still walk among us) have not lost their touch, their musicianship, their commitment to a world of equality, opportunity, hope. They have new works, and they still inspire. And because technology allows for it, I’ve been able to express their music – and my feelings – in video. Here are two results. I hope they inspire you to action.
First, Mark Stein’s Racism.
Second, Dave Mason’s When the World is One.
Thanks, guys. Your music has the power to inspire. May that inspiration move us to heal.
